Abstract

HVS Paper Waste is one type of paper waste of the many papers on the market, HVS paper waste is easy to obtain, because HVS paper is a type of paper that is often used in correspondence activities or other activities in government or private agencies and learning activities at a school. One of the uses of HVS waste paper in the community is to be used as a mixture of bricks. The HVS waste paper used is HVS paper which is soaked in water for 24 hours and then formed into a pulp mill. Then the pulp mill is mixed in a mixture of bricks with variations of 0%, 5%, 10% and 15% by weight of sand. For the test specimens, 80 pieces were prepared with brick molds measuring 8 × 15 × 30 cm. testing on 20 bricks for water absorption test and 60 bricks for compressive strength testing at the age of 7 years, 14 and 28 days. From the research results it is known that the absorption capacity of bricks increases with the increasing amount of HVS paper waste added. For the compressive strength test, the compressive strength of bricks with a mixture of 5% HVS paper waste and bricks with 10% HVS paper waste was 0.83% higher than bricks with 0% HVS paper waste. Meanwhile, the compressive strength of 10% HVS waste paper bricks was 3.31% higher than 0% HVS paper waste bricks.
